Description of Position:

The Vocational Rehabilitation Technician works cohesively with the case manager and supports the case manager in all details of service provision. Coordinating Client Services (35%): This position provides technical assistance and support to the case manager in gathering and processing case work data. Once directed by the case manager, the rehabilitation technician assists with contacting referral sources regarding injury, medical status of referrals, and contact information for referrals/families. Correspondence/Documentation (20%): The rehabilitation technician drafts and mails correspondence to consumers and providers as required or requested. Case note data is entered in RIMS documenting contacts with referral/consumer, family, provider and any activities conducted or relating to the consumer. Authorization Processing (20%): Authorization processing involves soliciting vendor quotes for consumer services in adherence to purchasing guidelines. The rehabilitation technician creates authorizations and forwards to vendors. The authorizations are then obtained from the vendor with supporting documentation and processed for submission to Finance and Accounting. It should be noted that authorization processing can only be performed by the rehabilitation technician due to an audit exception. Maintaining Electronic Files (20%): This job responsibility includes scanning all consumer related data into RIMS, updating insurance/demographic information and status changes. An additional duty of the rehabilitation technician is to maintain contact with all clients that are placed in nursing homes for up to one year after institutional closure by the BSCIP. The rehabilitation technician may be required to conduct initial interviews and attend hospital staffing in the absence of the case manager.

Minimum Qualifications, KSAs, and/or other Specific Information:

At least one year of experience in working in the field of health, social work, or related field.

Able to communicate with the public, oral and written communication.

Able to follow instructions and work independently when needed.

At least one-year experience in insurance billing and fiscal record keeping.
