Track Inspector
The Track Inspector inspects and monitors functions of railroad track and structures to assure compliance with Federal safety and health regulations among railroads, railroad employees, and contractors to railroads within an assigned geographical territory. A Track Inspector requires an understanding of maintenance procedures and practices, maintenance theory, the materials, parts, tools, test equipment and operating systems associated with track and track components.
Schedule: M:F, 7:00am : 3:30pm
The Track Inspectors Job Summary/Duties:
: Inspect railroad track structure for compliance with railroad policy and federal/state regulations.
: Detect deviations from the federal/state regulations.
: Implement remedial action on defects pending repair.
: Repair or direct crews to repair or replace track structure defects.
: Inspect completed work to verify conformance to FRA regulations.
: Prepare inspection reports for management and FRA compliance.
: Perform special inspections of the track structure in times of severe weather or other events which may damage the railroad.
: Perform other tasks necessary to the efficient operation of the railroad.
: Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections, troubleshoots and tests track and track components using precision measuring equipment such as track levels, track gauges and other related measuring devices.
: Responds to and provides assistance in emergencies which require inspection of or repair to track involved in incidents, accidents or derailments.
: Performs all tasks and assignments within the established safety practices and maintenance guidelines under varying weather conditions.
: May operate vehicles between work locations.
: Preferred : CFR 49 part 213 qualified, RWP trained, Operating rules qualified, CWR qualified, Physical characteristics qualified.
: A graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate, and satisfactory completion of an acceptable training program in track inspection and maintenance or a related field is required.
: Considerable knowledge of and have performed satisfactorily the duties of a track walker, track repairer, track inspector or related field for a period of not less than two (2) years.
: Possession of a valid motor vehicle operators license issued from jurisdiction of residence. Safe driving record
: Demonstrate knowledge of Roadway Worker Protection rules.
: Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures.
: Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks including frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally to 100 pounds.
