Job Description
This individual shares responsibility for the overall maintenance, mechanical integrity and reliability of the plant. This individual shall be able to perform any and all repairs as needed. This employee shall be highly involved in programs aimed at continuous improvement, maintaining maximum production capability, minimizing risk, and maintaining and improving the facilities mechanical integrity and reliability. This position can and will involve basic purchasing activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS include but are not limited to:
Participation in the facility safety team and demonstrate a responsible commitment to safety.
Must be a team player, organized, self:motivated and able to prioritize. Must have solid time management and organizational skills. Must be flexible to a changing work environment. Must be familiar with windows based software and MS Office applications.
Follow all established work procedures to make decisions and act in a minimum supervision environment to achieve a safe, environmentally sound, and reliable facility operation.
Troubleshoot and perform repairs on instruments, control and electrical power systems to include sulfur and natural gas burner controls. Maintains boiler instrumentation. Participate in system changes aimed at improvements.
Maintains all process and other plant instrumentation such as pressure, level, temperature, flow, and PH transmitters and sensors at highest reliability levels. Perform repairs and preventive maintenance to such equipment.
Assists operators in troubleshooting of operational problems and assists them in learning basic
instrumentation/DCS activities.
Design and perform routine
preventive/predictive maintenance activities that includes Mechanical Integrity (MIP). Keeps the appropriate paperwork associated with the program, to include time spent on repairs, and parts and materials used (CMMS). Instrument tech is responsible for being familiar with the Quality Procedures manual and all ISO requirements for instrumentation.
Routinely create, review and modify job procedures, SOPs and other knowledge
documents. Technician must maintain accurate and up:to:date calibration list.
Ensure that all operations meet or exceed environmental and safety regulations through use of routine audits, checklists, and participation in Incident Investigations, immediate reporting of Near Misses, and root cause analysis.
Participate in special projects aimed at continuous improvement of operations and work within the ISO 9001 framework. Develop knowledge of ISO 9001 procedures.
Ensure attention to detail is achieved, including the intimate knowledge of the entire plant operation and open communication with other departments, contractors and plant personnel.
Communication and interaction with Management and other plant personnel of any and all plant problems and upsets.
Participate in the training of other group members (share your knowledge).
Ability to act independently with minimal supervision as owner/operator of the facility on a continuous basis.
Maintain the production facility in a clean and presentable manner. Keep floors clean and dry, grounds free of trash and waste, painting and cleaning as needed, etc.
Coordination of work schedules with other departments.
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. Request as needed.
Perform additional duties as requested.
Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested by Supervision.
Rotation of weekly on call mechanic duties and carry pager.
Minimum of an associates degree in science or related field or applicable industry experience of a length of at least 3 years may be substituted for the degree.
